Dating appPurehas shared the latest trends that are redefining how we connect, communicate, and fall in love as we head into a new year. 2025 will be the year of AI, dating fatigue and ‘going beyond the screen’, according to Pure’s experts.
AI: The New Matchmaker?
2025 will see more daters turning to AI to help craft the perfect profile or even add a little extra flair to their flirting game. While AI tools can be a lifesaver for those needing a confidence boost or help with wording, there’s a catch—overly polished bios often end up feeling too stiff and lacking that genuine spark.
Pure’s upcoming AI features won’t write the messages for the user, but they will provide smart tips and tricks to help them communicate more naturally, flirt with ease, and figure out exactly what they’re looking for in a relationship.
2. Dating Fatigue: The Strain of Swipe Culture
Dating fatigue has hit hard in 2024, and it’s taking a toll on even the most enthusiastic romantics. Nearly half of Pure’s community members reported feeling burnt out by the traditional app experience—endless messaging, ghosting, and a growing sense of disconnection. 82% of users have seriously considered taking a break from the app cycle.
When asked to describe their dating experiences this year, 37% of Pure users called it “a chaotic mix of fun and failure,” while 32% admitted to experiencing “crickets”—maybe even too quiet of a dating life. And when it comes to the biggest turn-offs, honesty (or the lack of it) tops the list: 45% of members ranked dishonesty as their number one “ick,” followed closely by the all-too-common “I’m not looking for anything serious” (26%).
Pure will be introducing features that will challenge ghosters to explain themselves, holding members accountable for more genuine, transparent conversations.
3. The Perfect First Date: Real, Relaxed, and Fun
Forget fancy dinners in 2025 or over-the-top plans—when it comes to first dates, daters are craving genuine, low-pressure vibes. Nearly half of those asked (45%) prefer a spontaneous approach, with one person taking the lead in suggesting a fun date idea, while others enjoy brainstorming together. And when it comes to location? Cozy coffee shops reign supreme, with 45% opting for a laid-back, caffeine-fueled start to a date. But for some, the allure of a hidden gem or secret spot is just as enticing.
Light-hearted fun is the priority for most, with laughter being the ultimate goal. A smaller group enjoys diving into deep conversations—but no one’s rushing to dissect their future together on the first date.
Interestingly, alcohol still plays a role in many first dates, with 67% of daters admitting that a little drink helps to ease the nerves. Cocktails are the drink of choice for 38%, while Italian cuisine emerges as the ultimate go-to meal for 41% of daters looking to impress on date night.
4. Expert Insight: Going Beyond the Screen
As dating habits shift, so do the desires for real-world connections. Beth Ashley, Pure’s resident dating expert, has noticed an increasing hunger for face-to-face interactions. “People are ready to move beyond the screens and feel the energy of a real-life connection sooner,” she explains. “That’s why we introduced True Photo and Photo Verification—so our community can meet in person, with more confidence and trust.”
With technology continuing to play a central role in the dating experience, the dating experts at Pure are dedicated to bridging the gap between digital and offline connection, making sure that when users do meet, it feels as authentic and real as possible.
