A murder investigation has been launched after the death of a man in the West Country. The body of a man in his 60s, from the Avon and Somerset area, was found inside a vehicle in a car park in Helston, Cornwall, by police officers making concern for welfare enquiries on Wednesday, December 18.
Officers discovered the body in the early hours of the morning. The man was confirmed to be dead at the scene and his next of kin have been informed.
Two women in their 50s and 80s, also from Avon and Somerset, have been arrested on suspicion of murder, concealing a death, and preventing a lawful burial. They remain in police custody at this time. Devon and Cornwall Police say those involved are known to each other and there is no wider risk to the community.
Detective Inspector Neil Blanchard from the Major Crime Investigation Team said: “Enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident but at this time we are treating the man’s death as suspicious.
“We understand that any incident this serious in nature, will cause concern amongst the community, it is believed that the involved parties are known to each other and there is no wider risk to the public. You can expect to see an increased presence around the business park while our investigation continues.”
Devon and Cornwall Police are now appealing for information to aid their investigation. Anyone who can help is asked to contact police on 101 or via the website quoting log 406 of 17 December.
