Northern Ireland businesses are increasingly embracing energy independence as a cornerstone of their sustainability and growth strategies, and Wilson Power & Energy, based in Dromore, continues to position itself at the forefront of this transformation.

With bespoke design services, innovative hardware solutions, and extensive industry expertise, the company is helping organisations across a wide range of sectors overcome the challenges of energy reliance and unlock the potential of renewable generation and has had a particularly strong year in 2024 which was marked by key innovation milestones, client installations, and new Irish company established with office in Dundalk. This expansion helps to serve their valued clients in the Republic of Ireland.

Breaking barriers with bespoke solutions and innovations

In 2024, Wilson Power & Energy elevated its commitment to delivering tailored solutions for businesses across Ireland. By offering site-specific analysis and design, the company has empowered business owners to reduce reliance on traditional energy suppliers. Its unique approach is simplifying the process to deliver effective, customisable on-site generation solutions that suit the needs of each individual business or organisation.

Wilson Power & Energy has put considerable time and effort into R&D this year, achieving strong outcomes as it has supported businesses in benefitting from an additional level of renewable generation than traditionally permitted under a standard G99 application (typically 75% of MIC) through hybrid solution and proprietary hardware to give clients freedom to further reduce their costs.

Driving electric mobility and secure power

Wilson Power & Energy is championing electric mobility by making EV driving more convenient for motorists as well as providing added value for customer-focused businesses who can now offer EV charging. In 2024, the Wilson Power & Energy team oversaw the roll-out of multiple 50, 75 and 100KW DC fast chargers across Ireland for a wide range of private clients.

Wilson Power & Energy’s expertise in secure power has also expanded significantly, with the team now maintaining a portfolio of over 100MW of secure power equipment across data centre facilities, and has secured a seven-year UPS maintenance contract with the Northern Ireland Health and Social Care Trust.

Innovative microgrid projects and partnerships

Wilson Power & Energy’s pioneering spirit shines in its collaboration with Heron Bros, where the company served as the main electrical contractor for a microgrid installation. This first of its kind project for Lynas Food Service integrates 960kWp of solar power, 2.2MWh of battery storage, and a 900kW wind turbine.

RoI company expands reach

Wilson Power & Energy also saw an expansion of its team in 2024 to the Republic of Ireland where it continues to offer the same comprehensive services in UPS/Secure power, Renewable Energy and EV charging. This expansion signifies the company’s growing influence across the island of Ireland and its ability to meet the diverse needs of businesses from across the sectors.

Driving the future of energy

Andrew Wilson, director, said: “Energy independence is no longer just a goal; it’s a necessity for businesses facing fluctuating costs and sustainability pressures. By equipping our clients with innovative tools and unmatched expertise, we’re enabling them to take control of their energy futures.”

Peter Watson, co-director, added: “The appetite for renewable solutions is growing stronger, driven by environmental considerations and operational security. Our commitment to delivering cutting-edge projects, like our recent microgrid installation, ensures our clients across the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe remain competitive and resilient in an evolving energy landscape.”

With a proven track record, a skilled team, and a vision for a more sustainable future, Wilson Power & Energy continues to lead the way in transforming NI’s energy sector. Whether it’s through bespoke hardware, critical power maintenance, or renewable generation systems, the company is empowering businesses to navigate a new era of energy independence.
