Pop group S Club is set to launch a grand manor house giveaway in honour of a late band member. The lucky winner will be handed the keys to a stunning country manor worth over £4 million, along with a cool £250,000 in cash.
This massive prize draw aims to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation (BHF). The Omaze Million Pound House Draw, Bath, offers an elegant six-bedroom property with a regal heritage dating back to the mid-1500s.
Once part of Sir John Harrington’s estate, godson of Elizabeth I, during Queen Anne’s reign, this magnificent property comes mortgage-free, with all stamp duty and legal fees covered. The winner also receives a hefty £250,000 in cash to help them settle in.
They can choose to live in the house, rent it out for extra income or sell it to become a cash multi-millionaire. If the winner decides to keep the luxurious property, Omaze estimates that the £250,000 would comfortably cover the running costs for about ten years.
If they opt to rent it out, local estate agents estimate a long-term rental value of between £10,000 to £12,000 per month, reports Somerset Live.
The exterior of this period property has remained virtually untouched since 1712, and the interior still retains many unique historical features. These include an internal functioning well, a secret Georgian drawer safe and graffiti dating back to 1636
The property underwent a meticulous restoration in 2015, transforming it into an exceptional home. The stylish interior of this iconic house is enhanced by impressive ceiling heights and windows that flood the space with natural light.
This Grade II listed house blends cosy grandeur with a discerning design for modern living. It showcases numerous period features such as panelling and cornices, delicate ceiling mouldings, elegant sash windows complete with shutters, and a magnificent staircase.
From the grand entrance hall, the ground floor encompasses four beautiful reception rooms; a south-facing drawing room with direct access to the garden terrace, a morning room, an impressive dining room featuring a bespoke Breccia Medicea marble fireplace, and a garden room. The latter houses a secret kitchen and bar, accessible behind sliding book cabinets, and full-height French doors leading to the west courtyard dining area.
The custom kitchen, equipped with a vintage Electrikit AGA, is complemented by a pantry, larder, stone-vaulted dining room, utility room, cloakroom, cellar and plant room. The hand-built, bespoke cabinetry throughout is solid tulipwood with limed oak interiors, housing both Miele and Neff appliances.
The meticulous attention to detail extends to the first floor, where all rooms are panelled. This includes a master bedroom with an en suite bathroom, two dressing rooms, another bedroom and a dual aspect bathroom with an adjoining shower room.
The second floor offers stylish guest accommodation with three additional double bedrooms and two bathrooms (one en suite). The property also features a coach house with garaging and a one-bedroom annexe on the first floor.
The beautifully manicured gardens and grounds, spanning one acre, have been thoughtfully designed to complement the house, featuring high dressed stone walls, courtyards, a fountain, a charming stone orangery and a south-facing terrace – perfect for entertaining. Additional features include a workshop, ice-house, log store, shed and undercroft, as well as tanks storing 15,000L of rainwater connected to the two onsite wells.
Nestled in a sheltered spot within Batheaston village, the house is just 3 miles from Bath City Centre, with Bath Spa Station offering a 75-minute journey to London Paddington. Batheaston is about a 30 minute drive from Bristol.
In addition to making its Grand Prize Winner a multimillionaire, the Omaze Million Pound House Draw, Bath, will raise funds for the British Heart Foundation, the nation’s leading heart charity.
Funds raised will be channelled into placing more defibrillators in communities nationwide and supporting The Circuit, the British Heart Foundation’s national defibrillator network that maps out defibrillator locations to aid emergency services in directing bystanders to the nearest unit during critical medical situations.
The collaboration with Omaze has garnered support from BHF Ambassadors and pop group S Club, who sadly lost their bandmate Paul Cattermole to heart complications. The ambassadors of S Club and the British Heart Foundation shared: “As proud supporters of the BHF, we’re excited to be a part of this exceptional collaboration.”
“Losing our much-loved band member Paul to an undiagnosed heart condition last year, brought the importance of the BHF’s work sharply into focus for us. We know that this Omaze partnership is hugely important to the charity, therefore it’s important to us too.”
“We want to honour Paul’s memory by helping others and feel fortunate we can do this through these fantastic organisations.”
