The incident happened on Saturday night, at 10:53 of the second period of the Wings’ 4-2 win. Berggren was assessed a minor penalty for cross-checking. Dewar was not hurt and remained in the game at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
Berggren was fined $2,148.44 US, the maximum allowable under the collective bargaining agreement, the National Hockey League Department of Player Safety announced on Sunday morning.
The money goes to the players’ emergency assistance fund.
