Tesco is urgently recalling one of its popular products after a labelling error could put people at risk. The Tesco own brand 10 Cooked Beef Slices should have a use by date of December 24, 2024.
However they have been mistakenly labelled with a use by date of January 24, 2025. According to the supermarket giant this means they pose a risk to health,
In a recall notice it says: “We are recalling a specific date code of Tesco 10 Cooked Beef Slices 125g due to the incorrect Use By date code of 24 JAN printed on packs instead of 24 DEC. An extension of the Use By date couple post a risk to health if the product is kept past the correct shelf life of the product.”
An alert was issued by the Food Standards Agency which warned: “The product listed above has been labelled with an incorrect ‘use-by’ which makes it unsafe to eat after the correct ‘use-by’ date of 24 December 2024.” It added: “Tesco is recalling the above product and issued a recall notice to alert customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.”
The FSA advised customers: “If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the Tesco store for a full refund. For further information, please contact customer service team on 0800 505 555.”
The affected batch is 10 Tesco Cooked Beef Slices, 125g. They state Use By: JAN (2025). The supermarket said no other Tesco products are affected by the recall.”
Tesco adds: “If you have purchased the affected date code of the above product please do not eat it. Instead return it to any Tesco store for a full refund. No receipt is required.”
