Victorian mansion house hotel and popular wedding venue, De Vere Tortworth Court, has announced a further £1.3 million of investment in upgrading 53 of its rooms. This follows the recent refurbishment of its popular 1853 Restaurant.
Scheduled to be completed in May of next year, the newly-designed rooms will offer a ‘relaxed and contemporary design’ the hotel says, with walk-in showers, luxury Penhaligon’s toiletries and Smart TVs. Many will feature views out across acres of the hotel’s grounds.
The majority of the hotel’s bedrooms are now said to be fully refurbished, with previous phases including the addition of 55 new Mansion House Rooms. Meanwhile, located in the hotel’s original library, the 1853 Restaurant & Library Bar has also recently undergone a refurb.
Maintaining many of its original features, including oak-panelling, ornate archways and a grand fireplace, the restaurant has introduced booth and banquet-style dining, perfect for groups and those looking for a more intimate setting. Serving the ‘finest British produce inspired by local, seasonal ingredients’, the 1853 Restaurant is open for lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.
Raphael Herzog, general manager at De Vere Tortworth Court said: “We’re thrilled to announce the next phase of refurbishment.
“This ongoing investment underscores our commitment to providing an exceptional experience for our guests, blending the charm and heritage of our Victorian mansion house with modern comforts and style. We look forward to unveiling these new bedrooms and continuing to offer a memorable experience for guests.”
De Vere Tortworth Court is home to a standalone Victorian Orangery, which is a popular wedding venue, and a historic arboretum, described as one of the finest in the country due its variety of rare tree species. The Orangery was featured in a 2023 wedding planner TV show on the BBC – Ultimate Wedding Planner.
What’s more, Tortworth Court, which is located in the Southern Cotswolds, just north of Bristol, is known for being a ‘unique location’ for team building, conferences, events, meetings, training or gala dinners. Inside, it boasts 14 event spaces, with space to host up to 400 people, as well as 30 acres of grounds.
