Emergency services are in attendance at the scene of a major ongoing incident in Co Down.

Police and paramedics were called to the incident in the Laurel Heights area of Banbridge shortly after 6pm on Saturday evening.

A number of police cordons are in place.

A NIAS spokesperson has confirmed no patients were taken from the scene.

“The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 18:23 following reports of an incident in the Laurel Heights area of Banbridge,” said a spokesperson.

“NIAS despatched 2 Rapid Response Paramedics and an Emergency Crew to the incident.

“Following initial assessment, no patients were taken from the scene.”

Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart has appealed to the public to give those responding to the incident space.

“I am aware of an ongoing incident in the Banbridge area,” she posted on social media.

“I would ask everyone to give the emergency services time and space to conduct their duties, and respect the privacy of the local residents.

“Please avoid speculation and anyone who has any information pleased contact the PSNI.”
