Fearne Cotton has announced that she has split from her musician husband Jesse Wood after more than 10 years together. It comes just days after the presenter had surgery to remove tumours.

She announced the news to her followers in a post on her Instagram post yesterday (December 13), telling them the decision to end the relationship had been taken with a heavy heart.

In the short post, she wrote: “It is with a heavy heart that | let you all know that Jesse and I are ending our marriage. Our priority has been, and will always be, our children. We please ask that you respect the privacy of our family at this time.”

Fearne met Jesse, the son of Rolling Stones star Ronnie Wood, in 2011 and by 2013, they had already welcomed their first child Rex. The pair tied the knot in 2014 at a ceremony attended by family and some famous friends, including Holly Willoughby and Keith Lemon. A year later, they welcomed their daughter Honey.

The couple has previously been open about relationship difficulties, including having recently revealed that tensions ran high during lockdown.

Speaking on her Happy Place podcast, Fearne said: “I am a very fiery person, and Jesse can also be quite fiery. We’ve certainly argued in front of the kids. Most parents have at some point. It’s not regular but we have definitely had a pop at each other in front of them — and you don’t feel good about it after.”

The announcement of their split comes just days after Fearne, 43, revealed she had a benign tumour in her jaw. In an Instagram video, she said: “I’ve got a benign tumour just in my jaw here, below my ear, another little tiny one above it. I’m very grateful they’re benign but they do need to come out because they’re on a nerve.”

She shared an update following her surgery last week, telling fans it had been a success but that she was feeling “wiped out”. She said: “Operation went really well. Recovering and resting. Thanks so much for all the kind messages.”

In another post she said: “Resting at home. Feel pretty wiped out but on the mend. Professor O’Flynn did the neatest job and was simply amazing at making me feel calm about the whole thing. Any good TV suggestions, get them in.”
