You’re probably sick of seeing it/hearing it/reading it, but the festive season is here. If you are looking for easy, put-together outfits that you can simply throw on and feel good in, there’s nothing more merry than a Christmas jumper. They are hassle-free to style; you can wear them with almost every pair of jeans or trousers you already have in your wardrobe.
M&S is always a good go-to for jumpers and knits. It has a wide variety and regularly updates its website with new releases, so there’s always lots of choice. Whilst scrolling on the site, we spotted a cream Fair Isle jumper that happy customers describe as ‘seasonal without being tacky’.
The £35 knit has a cosy, relaxed fit, so there’s plenty of room to layer T-shirts and thermals underneath. The neutral cream colour can be dressed up with colourful trousers or even a tartan skirt if you’re feeling extra Christmassy. The Fair Isle jumper is available in extra small, small, medium, large and extra large sizes.

M&S has a ‘style with’ feature on its website, where it recommends an outfit you can create with the pieces you’re eyeing up. For the Fair Isle jumper, the function suggests a pair of M&S Collection Wide-Leg Jeans (£35), and these Chunky Buckle Flatform Ankle Boots (£49.50).
A customer rated the sweater five-stars, writing: “Lovely, warm and cosy jumper, soft to wear and move in. Not overly thick. Lovely colour cream and nice design.” A second added: “Lovely jumper very soft and warm. It’s washed nicely. Only issue I’ve had is that the tag at the back of the neck was very scratchy. I’ve carefully unpicked it, so problem solved.”
A third noted: “Very well made, good quality and fits perfectly. Goes well with jeans.” A fourth remarked: “Nice jumper for the price. Feels soft and cosy and is seasonal without being tacky.”
Another five-star reviewer commented: “So cosy, super stylish and definitely in contention for my next Christmas jumper. Great fit and love the colour combo.”
Not all customers were pleased, with one being disappointed in the hue of the knit, amongst other things. They explained: “I was really disappointed with this jumper. It was yellow rather than cream/ ivory, and it wasn’t as soft as I expected. I would have preferred it longer: It didn’t suit me and made me look much bigger than I am.”
Another liked it but warned that it lacks shape. They said: “Very pleased with this jumper. Very comfortable and cosy. A little lacking in shape but overall a great purchase for the winter months.”
Alternatively, Next is selling a red and cream Fair Isle Pattern Knitted Christmas Jumper for £39. It’s available in sizes extra small, small, medium, large, and extra large, but you’ll have to snap it up quickly as it is selling out fast.
If you are looking for something a little more muted, we also really like this pretty pink oversized knit from River Island. It’s on sale now for £30, down from £40 and is available in extra sizes, small, medium and large.
