Outnumbered’s Hugh Dennis has revealed a rather fiery end for one of the props he took from the set of the beloved BBC sitcom.

The 62-year-old actor, famed for his role as dad Pete Brockman since the show’s debut in 2007, is set to return for a festive special alongside the original cast members.

Claire Skinner will return as mum Sue, with Tyger Drew-Honey reprising his role as Jake, Daniel Roche reprising his role as Ben, and Ramona Marquez returning as Karen.

With the Brockman children now grown into young adults, the upcoming special will explore parenting dynamics through this new chapter.

During a nostalgic look back at their time on the series, the actors discussed whether they kept any mementos from the set, reports the Express.

Ramona reminisced: “Now I come to think of it, I think Pusscat belonged to Guy’s daughter. They let us keep some of the clothes when we finished so I gave them to younger family members who would then watch the show on TV and say I’m wearing those pyjamas, it was quite cute.”

Claire then revealed her personal wardrobe connection to her character: “Most of the clothes Sue wore were my own.” Hugh shared his unique keepsake story: “I remember Pete having a pair of cargo shorts I took home and burned.”

In the upcoming special, fans are in for a treat as eldest son Jake is set to become a father. The actor has shared that a new member will join the family, making Pete and Sue grandparents.

Actor Tyger revealed to the BBC, “Jake absolutely adores his child and is very much in love with the mother of his child, but he has been having struggles with fatherhood, as any parent of small children can relate.

“Especially the lack of sleep and his daughter’s tendency to impersonate animals.

“If I had to compare her personality to either Karen or Ben when they were younger, I’d say she’s got more of a Ben personality. She’s got some of the genes that Ben and I got from Dad.”

Outnumbered Christmas Special airs on BBC iPlayer and BBC One from 9.40pm on 26 December
