EasyJet has unveiled two new routes which will be flying from Bristol Airport next summer, as well as the airline’s 19th aircraft to be based at the airport.

A new year round service from Bristol to Almeria in Spain will launch on June 24, 2025, operating twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays. A second new route will take travellers to Sicily’s capital of Palermo, launching on June 26 and flying twice weekly throughout the summer, on Thursdays and Sundays.

Seats for both routes are now on sale from just £29.99 via easyJet’s app and website. What’s more, the airline will be adding its 19th aircraft to its fleet in Bristol from June.

An additional Airbus A320 family aircraft will enable the airline to provide greater choice and connectivity for customers in the southwest, easyJet says, adding that the growth of the fleet will also support the local economy, with each UK-based aircraft supporting around 400 direct and indirect jobs, and £27 million UK gross value added (GVA).

The new routes to Almeria and Palermo have also allowed tour operator easyJet holidays to bolster its package holiday offering, with customers able to book sunshine getaways to both destinations. All easyJet holidays packages include flights, hotel and 23kg luggage on beach holidays, all covered by its Ultimate Flexibility scheme.

Rupert Lawrie, commercial director at Bristol Airport, said: “It’s great news that easyJet continues to invest in Bristol Airport and will be basing nineteen aircraft here. The new connection to Palermo and all-year route to Almeria adds even more choice for customers and opens opportunities for people from these countries to also visit the South West.

There will be two new routes available for some summer sun, from Bristol Airport, next summer

“We’re pleased that the new aircraft will be an Airbus A320neo. This underpins our commitment to local communities that we are actively encouraging airlines to base their newer, quieter and more fuel-efficient aircraft here at Bristol Airport.”

EasyJet carried out a record number of passengers to and from Bristol in its 2024 financial year, which according to its figures is 11 per cent more than last year. The airline continues to be the ‘number one short-haul airline at the airport’.

Since launching operations in Bristol in May 2001, easyJet has carried more than 76 million customers and offers 83 routes to 19 countries. Ali Gayward, easyJet UK country manager, said:

“Our success in Bristol is a testament to the continued popularity of our flights and holidays, with customers choosing us for our trusted brand, unrivalled network and great value fares. The growth of our fleet with an additional aircraft will not only support around 400 jobs but is enabling us to further unlock the opportunity of the continuing demand that we see for both leisure and business travel in the southwest.

“We’re already capturing this opportunity with the launch of new routes next summer, which will provide more customers with greater choice and connectivity, and we look forward to welcoming them on board.”
