A person has died on train tracks near Weston-super-Mare this morning, Monday, December 9. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 9.40am.

All trains between Bristol Temple Meads and Taunton were stopped following the incident. Despite the best efforts of those involved, the casualty was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the death is not being treated as suspicious. A file is now being prepared for the coroner and an investigation will take place into the circumstances surrounding the death.

British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to the line near Weston-Super-Mare at around 9.40am today (9 December) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
