Easton Cowan didn’t wait to make history.
The London Knights star ripped home a power-play one-timer 13:28 into the first period against Oshawa rookie goaltender Isaac Gravelle to record a point for the 56th straight regular season game Friday at Canada Life Place.
The Maple Leafs first-rounder unofficially surpassed Toronto legend Doug Gilmour’s OHL record 55-gamer with the Cornwall Royals in 1982-83.
The OHL will continue to recognize Gilmour’s streak because it occurred over one season while Cowan’s incredible run has extended through two campaigns.
Any way you slice it, it’s a noteworthy feat. The reigning OHL MVP hasn’t been held off a regular-season scoresheet since starting this streak Nov. 25, 2023, at Barrie.

The Canadian Hockey League record is 61 games by Mario Lemieux with Laval in 1983-84. That pursuit will take a while.
Cowan is heading to the Canadian world junior selection camp within days so this was his last game until the tournament ends in early January.
