Police are becoming increasingly concerned for the welfare of missing person William Dickson, who is from the Tobermore area.

William, aged 74, was last seen in the Desertmartin region at around 3.40pm on Thursday (December 5).

William, who may be vulnerable, is described as being approximately 5ft 10in in height, of medium build, with grey hair.

It is believed that he may be wearing a navy T-shirt, navy jumper and navy trousers, with a black coat and black work boots.

“We would ask that local residents check their garden sheds and outbuildings, ahead of tonight’s anticipated inclement weather,” a PSNI spokesperson said.

“We would ask that anyone who has seen William, or has any information that may assist with enquiries, please contact police on 101 quoting reference 1735 of 05/12/24.”

Meanwhile, a separate search for missing man Philip Porter in Co Down has been extended from Moira to the Mourne Mountains.

Two search teams were deployed along the Lurgan Road in Moira on Thursday evening to help find the 46-year-old.

At least six members of a search and rescue team were seen making their way along the road that joins the village to Magheralin shortly after 7pm.

It is understood that police and volunteers were in the area from around 3pm on Thursday.

In an updated appeal on Friday, a spokesperson for the PSNI said Mr Porter had mentioned travelling to the Mourne Mountains before his disappearance – over 30 miles away from Moira.

“Philip has recently made reference to traveling to the Mourne Mountains so we would like to refresh this appeal to the area of Newry, Mourne and Down,” said the PSNI.

“We are asking anyone who may be in the area of the Mourne Mountains and believe they may have seen Philip or to anyone with any information on his whereabouts to contact police on 101 quoting reference 438 05/12/24.”
