I’d love nothing more than to start a business with my sister-in-law.
That’s exactly what happened when Veronica Swanson Beard and Veronica Miele Beard married a set of brothers, taking on the same name and launching a fashion brand together.
Veronica Beard (VB) was founded in 2010. The brand started with the dickey jacket and a vision to create a “collection of cool classics that speak to today’s multifaceted, multitasking woman.” It’s since become a go-to brand for royals Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, as well as Hollywood starlets.
Since its founding, VB has expanded way beyond the dickey jacket, becoming a one-stop-shop to get dresses, sweaters, handbags, shoes and so much more, including denim. This was my first time trying VB, so hopping in with jeans seemed like a familiar start.
Most of the denim runs between $300 – $600, so finding the right pair is important, as they’re an investment piece — which is echoed by the quality. Though I’m ranking my favourite VB jeans, they all have one thing in common: they’re high-quality. They feel soft and luxurious and wash like a dream. I also get a ton of compliments when I wear them. The jeans are made in the U.S.
To rank my favourite VB jeans, I started by looking online for my favourite styles. I selected my top five and wore them for months. Wore them — washed them — rinsed and repeated.

My favourite Veronica Beard jeans, explained
Taylor Cuffed Wide-Leg Jean ($398)
Why they’re my favourite: They are so comfortable. I feel like the more comfortable the denim, the higher they are on my list. I’m one to put comfort before fashion but like to do what I can to balance the two — the Taylor Jean does just that. It’s sleek and I look put together, but they’re relaxed, high-rise and soft, jeans that I can easily wear all day. I also receive the most compliments when wearing this pair, so it’s a crowd-sourced favourite too.
Dylan Rhinestone-Stripe Straight-Leg Jean ($498)
Why they’re my second favourite: I tried the non-rhinestoned version of the Dylan Jean and appreciate them for similar reasons to the Taylor’s — they’re soft, relaxed and stylistically neutral. The Dylans are cropped pants, making them an accommodating length for different people and shoes. These fit a bit more tapered than the Taylor and have a cuffless finish.
Beverly Skinny-Flare Jean ($415)
Why they’re my third favourite: High-rise, lots of stretch, flare. The Beverly is a traditional flared jean — tight on top and bells out from the knee, depending on your height. I’m 5’10” and these are the perfect length for me to wear with a sneaker, boot or shorter heel. They certainly aren’t a relaxed denim, but they’re made from 92 per cent cotton and 8 per cent stretchy material, making them still nice and comfy.
Carson Raw Hem Kick-Flare Jean ($398)
Why they’re my fourth favourite: They’re similar to the Beverly but shorter and more flared. They’re comfortable, but not quite as stretchy as the Beverly. They fit me better than the Daniela below, so they’re higher on my list, but that’s because of my body type not because of my overall preference on how they look. I do like the way they look, they’re just less neutral than the straight-leg Daniela so they’re less of an everyday denim. There are a lot of fun ways to style the Carsons and because they’re shorter, they can accommodate different heights and could require fewer alterations.
Daniela Straight-Leg Embellished Jean ($548)
Why they’re my fifth favourite: Like the rhinestone jeans above, I tried the un-embellished version of the Daniela. These would be higher on my list if I sized up as there’s very little give and my hips would appreciate a bit more room. They’re a straight leg, which my eyes like, but my body type finds challenging. I like the look of these but because they’re more snug on me, they lost a few comfort points.
