The Phoenix Concert Theatre, which was set to close its Sherbourne location in January to make way for condos and find a new space but will now remain open until January 2026, is offering a free four -part concert series as a way to “thank loyal patrons following a tumultuous year.”
“The outpouring of support when we first announced the potential closure of 410 Sherbourne was nothing short of incredible,” Lisa Zbitnew, co-owner and operator of The Phoenix Concert Theatre, said in a statement.
“The excitement when we shared that we’d be staying open until we find a suitable new location was even more overwhelming. Fans of The Phoenix have rooted for us throughout the year, showing just how deeply The Phoenix is woven into their lives. We wanted to express our gratitude in the best way we know – through live music.”
The four-part concert series, held on Saturdays, kicks off Jan. 18 with a performance by Paul James, Canada’s legendary R&B guitarist, celebrating the early years of rock and his 74th birthday.
Practically Hip, The Tragically Hip tribute band of the last 25 years, plays Jan. 25; Neon Nostalgic, an ‘80s to today rock tribute band that syncs performances with original videos, plays Feb. 1; and Sandman, the only Metallica-sanctioned tribute band since 1994, plays Feb. 8.
Free tickets will be available through ticketweb with ticket availability to be announced on Q107, a sponsor of the series along with Budweiser.
The legendary venue has been operating for 33 years and has hosted the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, The Ramones, Foo Fighters, Rage Against The Machine, Rush, and The Tragically Hip, to name a few.
