Temperatures are expected to plummet to below freezing in some parts of the UK in the coming days. The Met Office has issued a yellow ice warning in Scotland as the mercury is set to drop below zero north of the border.
Forecasters expect ice to form on roads and pavements which could lead to transport disruption. Meanwhile, the radar shows temperatures dropping as low as 4C in Bristol at the end of this week.
The mercury is expected to steadily drop before hitting 4C on Friday (December 6) and over the weekend. Some rainfall is also expected across the city on Saturday as well as strong winds. The Met Office is predicting wind speeds to gather pace at the weekend. They could reach 45mph in Bristol during Saturday morning.
On the ice warning, the Met Office said: “A band of rain and snow will move east across Scotland this afternoon and evening (which could lead to some lying snow on higher transport routes). Once this clears temperatures will quickly fall during Tuesday evening and ice is likely to form readily on untreated surface during the evening and overnight into Wednesday morning.”
