Eamonn Holmes has thrown his support behind Barry McGuigan, as Northern Ireland’s Dean McCullough is voted out of the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! jungle.

Marking the first time he has publicly spoken about the show since it was revealed Ruth Langsford was heading off to Australia to take part in an I’m A Celebrity spin-off show, Holmes posted about who he was supporting on Instagram.

Posting at the weekend, the Belfast GB News presenter shared a picture of former boxer McGuigan with the words ‘vote Barry’ written across the image.

He captioned the image with a post, writing: “We’ve known each other for 45 years and are best friends. Hope you can help keep my pal Barry in the Jungle.”

On last night’s show the Clones native took on the Bushtucker trial ‘Spiralling Out of Control’.

Finding out what was in store, Ant and Dec revealed that he would be strapped to a giant spiral wheel, with one hand free.

He would win stars by throwing balls into the hatches around the side, when they opened. With each ball into a hatch equalling one star.

With Barry all strapped in, he was joined by some offal, cockroaches and giant mealworms to kick off proceedings, before he started spinning around.

Struggling to find his bearings with the spinning, he found getting the right aim very difficult, only managing to get one ball in a hatch with 10 seconds to go during round one.

However, with the spiral wheel picking up the pace, so did Barry, as he successfully got a full house in all other rounds, scoring an impressive 10 out of a possible 11 stars.

Holmes’ former partner Langsford has been taking part in the reality show’s spin-off – Unpacked.

Last month friends reported that the Loose Women panellist was also heading to Australia to get some downtime after what they called a “tough year” for her.

She had also flown down under to support her Loose Women co-star Jane Moore – who was the first star to be evicted from the jungle.

Holmes and Langsford announced in May that they had broken up after 14 years of marriage and that they are “in the process of divorcing”.

Since the news emerged, Holmes has since been seen in public with new girlfriend Katie Alexander (43), having moved out of the £3.5m Surrey home he shared with Langsford.

Holmes and co-host Isabel Webster have hosted the Breakfast programme on GB News since Eamonn was axed from ITV’s This Morning alongside his former wife Langford in 2020.

The pair have one son Jack, born in 2002. Holmes also has three other children from his previous marriage.
