Crashes cause delays on Belfast’s Outer Ring

There have been two separate road traffic collisions (a short distance apart) on the A55 Outer Ring Belvoir Road just after the A24 Saintfield Road Junction heading towards Tesco Newtownbreda. Police are attending, with knock on delays back on the A55 at Upper Galwally and on the Saintfield Road out of town at Forestside.

Road users are advised diversions are in place on the Glenshane Road, Maghera at its junction with the Mullagh Road due to a road traffic collision. Please seek an alternative route for your journey at this time.

North Belfast road closures

The Antrim Road in north Belfast will be closed this evening between the junctions with Old Cavehill Road and Donegal Park Avenue, while the North Circular Road will be closed between the junctions with Old Cavehill Road and Antrim Road, while police return to the scene of a fatal crash in December 2023.
The closures will be in place from 10pm this evening until 4am on Thursday.

The M1 east-bound has since re-opened to one lane from junction 13, following the report of a lorry on fire.

Fermanagh road impassable

Police are advising road users to avoid the Old Coach Road in Bellanaleck this morning as it is impassable due to icy conditions.

Salting of roads on the scheduled network considered to be at risk of ice across NI has been undertaken overnight. Road users are advised to exercise caution when travelling, particularly when driving on untreated roads.

Belfast disruption after M1 crash

There are delays this evening following a crash on the M1. The crash has been moved to the hard shoulder between J3 Blacks Road and the Lisburn motorway services, but the knock-on is causing significant disruption in the city centre and Harbour Estate.

Five vehicle crash on M1

Emergency services are at the scene of a five vehicle crash on the M1 before the Applegreen Motor Way Services. Both lanes are currently blocked. Vehicles can pass on the bus lane. Delays go back to junction 6 Saintfield Road.

Another crash in east Belfast


After an earlier crash on the Woodstock Road, there has been another road traffic collision in east Belfast – this time on the Newtownards Road at the junction with Bloomfield Avenue. 
Police and the Ambulance Service are attending the incident.
Motorists are advised to expect delays.
