After going viral following a thunderous tackle against one of the world’s best footballers, a band has now penned a song in praise of Liverpool’s Co Tyrone star Conor Bradley.
The young Northern Ireland fullback put in a man-of-the-match performance during Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League tie against Real Madrid on Wednesday night.
The Castlederg man received widespread praise and also had Anfield in raptures at one particular moment following a perfectly timed tackle against Madrid’s French superstar Kylian Mbappé.
The fullback also provided an assist for his teammate Alexis Mac Allister, helping Liverpool gain a 2-0 victory over the Spanish club and reigning European champions.
In an ode to the 21-year-old’s performance, the lead singer of a Liverpool indie-rock band, the Ragamuffins, dedicated a song to the tune of Irish Rover.
David John Jaggs told the Belfast Telegraph that his band started doing songs for the Reds “by complete chance” at Anfield back in 2019.
“We started doing the music for Liverpool games back in 2019. We’ve been an original band for years putting out music and by complete chance we got asked to do one of the games at Anfield in 2019.”
The band has since travelled around the world playing Liverpool songs in Canada, Norway, France and more.
David said the song to Conor Bradley has been in the works for a while before the Northern Irish footballer had his “unbelievable game” against Chelsea last season.
“I had the idea and a lot of it was in the back of my mind but I didn’t have quite enough to fit it in.
“I needed one little thing that is really niche and then the thing with Mbappé happened and I was like that’s the final piece of the jigsaw.”
