King Charles is shouldered by two strong women either side of him that support him in his work and care deeply about his welfare, according to a royal commentator.

However, it is claimed that while Camilla, 77, has won over most of the Royal Family and gained popularity among the public, Prince Harry is still unwilling to accept the second wife of King Charles into his life.

Former BBC royal correspondent Jenny Bond suggests that the Queen, who recently received an Honorary Doctorate of Literature from the Princess Royal, has won over Anne’s “admiration and the respect of many people in the county.”

“This was an unusual moment for both women, and I think it showed their mutual respect,” she added.

The sister-in-laws both dated Andrew Parker Bowles, with Camilla marrying the aristocrat in July 1973.

The former husband and wife, who met in 1970 at Royal Ascot, were married for 21 years.

Their divorce was finalised in March 1995, three years prior to Charles and Diana, who separated in 1992 amid speculation of marital issues and allegations of infidelity on both sides.

Prince Harry has made several high-profile claims against his stepmother, including accusing the 77-year-old of leaking stories to the British press to boost her image when joining the Royal Family.

The claims have led to a major ongoing feud between Prince Harry and King Charles, with the pair thought not to be on speaking terms.

Speaking on the relationship between the two women senior royals, Bond said: “Camilla and Anne have known each other for a very long time.

“They share a lot of history and probably a lot of secrets.

“It may have been quite tricky for both of them to adjust to the new situation with Camilla becoming the senior royal and, indeed, taking on the role of Anne’s beloved mother.

“But I think Anne has seen what a tremendous support Camilla is to Charles: the King is certainly lucky to have two strong women either side of him, supporting him in his work and caring deeply about his welfare.”

“It’s not easy being a second wife, a stepmother, a step grandmother, or a commoner stepping into the royal goldfish bowl,” Bond told OK.

“Camilla has done it all and, for almost all the family, with the exception of Harry and Meghan, she is loved or at least well-liked and has become a key player in the institution of monarchy.”

Following a Channel 4 documentary titled Queen Camilla: The Wicked Stepmother? that explored the Queen’s public image, an author criticised Harry and argued that Camilla did not “deserve this kind of treatment.”

A.N.Wilson wrote in the Mail: “[When] Prince Charles’s marriage to Diana was breaking up, Camilla was described as the most hated woman in Britain.”

“Twenty-five years have passed since then and even the most fervent Diana fans can now see she has helped rebuild not only Charles’s self-confidence but also the plausibility of the monarchy.”
