Local residents have been given a brilliant opportunity for year-round fun and intrigue for less, thanks to a Yeovilton museum.

This winter, the Fleet Air Arm Museum is giving an exclusive discount to residents living in BA, TA, DT, SP, and BS postcodes.

The museum is home to one of Europe’s largest naval aircraft collections, with more than 100 aircraft, two million records, artefacts, and objects.

Plus, alongside its fascinating exhibitions, there are hands-on activities, a modern café and an outdoor play area – meaning there’s something to capture the imagination of every visitor.

Take a flight to the past

Visitors to the Fleet Air Arm Museum can get up close to lots of historical aircraft, including the first British Concorde (002) and Humphrey, a search and rescue helicopter from the Falklands Conflict.

Younger visitors will get a thrill when they sit in the cockpit of the De Havilland Sea Vampire plane, while visitors can also enjoy the updated Aircraft Carrier Experience, an immersive journey of discovery through the evolution of aircraft carriers from the dawn of naval air warfare through the heyday of jet aviation to the modern-day.

One of the museum’s most recent projects, ‘Barracuda Live: The Big Rebuild,’ allows visitors to get up close and personal to the project aiming to build the only complete Fairey Barracuda in the world.

This remarkable project has been underway since the 1970s, but with the construction of the Arthur Kimberley Viewing Gallery, visitors can see the work closer than ever before.

People with BA, TA, DT, SP, and BS postcodes will be able to get up to 30% off their tickets thanks to the Fleet Air Arm Museum’s exclusive winter offer.

Not only that, the best part is that tickets to the museum last for 12 months, so locals will be getting a discount on a whole year of adventure.

Ticket holders can return for seasonal events, including regular special interest talks and ever-changing school holiday events – meaning they’ll always have the perfect getaway on a rainy weekend or an activity to keep the family entertained.

Marc Farrance, general manager of the Fleet Air Arm Museum, said: “This is the third year of the scheme and it’s always a joy to offer reduced entry to those who live locally. Now is the perfect time to visit and see some of your favourite aircraft or exhibitions, or experience it all for the first time.

“The discounted tickets represent great value, offering a whole year of access, and come just as many of us are looking for Christmas gifts.”

The discount can be redeemed either online by inputting your billing address through the link below, or in-person by bringing proof of address.
