NI traffic alerts: Westlink delays due to broken down lorry

There are delays on the Westlink eastbound stretching back to Stockmans Lane due to a broken down lorry under the Divis Street bridge.

Road users are advised diversions are in place on the Glenshane Road, Maghera at its junction with the Mullagh Road due to a road traffic collision. Please seek an alternative route for your journey at this time.

Update: The road reopened before 4pm

The PSNI has warned motorists this morning of icy driving conditions. 

The Antrim Road in north Belfast will be closed this evening between the junctions with Old Cavehill Road and Donegal Park Avenue, while the North Circular Road will be closed between the junctions with Old Cavehill Road and Antrim Road, while police return to the scene of a fatal crash in December 2023.
The closures will be in place from 10pm this evening until 4am on Thursday.

The M1 east-bound has since re-opened to one lane from junction 13, following the report of a lorry on fire.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution and leave extra time for your journey.

Lorry fire closes motorway section

Road users are advised that the M1 eastbound is closed from junction 13 due to a lorry on fire.
Diversions are in place.

Police are warning road users about the risk of ice this morning, with heavy fog also a risk factor in areas including the M1 and M2.

Police are advising road users to avoid the Old Coach Road in Bellanaleck this morning as it is impassable due to icy conditions.

Salting of roads on the scheduled network considered to be at risk of ice across NI has been undertaken overnight. Road users are advised to exercise caution when travelling, particularly when driving on untreated roads. 

An earlier collision involving multi-vehicles at the Dee Street junction of the A2 Sydenham bypass, heading towards Belfast City Airport, has been fully cleared.

The Old Ballynahinch Road in Lisburn is currently closed at its junction with Saintfield Road due to a collision. Police are advising road users to seek an alternative route.

There are delays this evening following a crash on the M1. The crash has been moved to the hard shoulder between J3 Blacks Road and the Lisburn motorway services, but the knock-on is causing significant disruption in the city centre and Harbour Estate.

The M1 motorway has now re-opened following a five vehicle collision.

Emergency services are at the scene of a five vehicle crash on the M1 before the Applegreen Motor Way Services. Both lanes are currently blocked. Vehicles can pass on the bus lane. Delays go back to junction 6 Saintfield Road. 

After an earlier crash on the Woodstock Road, there has been another road traffic collision in east Belfast – this time on the Newtownards Road at the junction with Bloomfield Avenue. 
Police and the Ambulance Service are attending the incident.
Motorists are advised to expect delays.

 

There have been reports of a crash on the Woodstock Road around the junction with the Beersbridge Road. It is passable but motorists are advised to expect delays.

The Moira Road in Lisburn has been closed in both directions close to the junction with Ballinderry Road after a crash.
Police are at the scene alongside emergency services. Road users have been advised to seek an alternative route. 

UPDATE: Multiple-vehicle crash on M1

This has since been cleared 

There has been a multiple-vehicle road traffic collision on the M1 leaving Belfast, just past junction 3 Blacks Road. Lanes 1 and 2 are blocked and only passable via the hard shoulder. 
Road users are advised to seek an alternative route if possible.
