Donald Trump has offered to pay a young black girl “millions” for her hair when he came across her at his golf course in West Palm Beach earlier this week.

In a recent video shared online, the president-elect admired the girl’s curls, jokingly commenting: “I love that girl.

“I love her hair, I want her hair.

“Can I buy your hair? I’ll pay you millions for that,” he added, inviting her to sit next to him on his golf cart.

In the video, the girl appears to say that she voted for Trump, to which he responded, pointing back at her: “Wow! I vote for you”

His comments have received polarised reactions from people online, with some accusing Trump of being “strange” and a “f***ing weirdo”.

One user said that the President-elect was “despicable”, while another lamented: “I can’t take another four years of this.”

However, some have simply considered his comments to be “wholesome”, with one user exclaiming: “Come on! People say that to kids to be nice! People [are] overreacting!

“If it was someone else you would say that is cute and the girl has nice hair.”

Another commented: “Imagine calling him racist when Trump is complimenting this beautiful young black girl’s hair. Such absolute losers and idiots as brains right there.

“This is why people love Trump. He’s human just like the rest of us and actually has a heart.”

On a more non-partisan level, another commented: “Sounds like classic Trump – mixing flattery with his larger-than-life persona.

“Love it or hate it, the man knows how to leave a lasting impression.”

Trump International Golf Club was the first golf property that the Republican purchased, which opened back in 1999.

The private club was also the location of a shooting in September earlier this year, while Trump was golfing, which is now being treated as an attempted assassination.
