Five vehicle crash on M1

Emergency services are at the scene of a five vehicle crash on the M1 before the Applegreen Motor Way Services. Both lanes are currently blocked. Vehicles can pass on the bus lane. Delays go back to junction 6 Saintfield Road.

Another crash in east Belfast


After an earlier crash on the Woodstock Road, there has been another road traffic collision in east Belfast – this time on the Newtownards Road at the junction with Bloomfield Avenue. 
Police and the Ambulance Service are attending the incident.
Motorists are advised to expect delays.

East Belfast delays after crash

There have been reports of a crash on the Woodstock Road around the junction with the Beersbridge Road. It is passable but motorists are advised to expect delays.

Moira Road closed after crash

The Moira Road in Lisburn has been closed in both directions close to the junction with Ballinderry Road after a crash.
Police are at the scene alongside emergency services. Road users have been advised to seek an alternative route.

UPDATE: Multiple-vehicle crash on M1

This has since been cleared 

There has been a multiple-vehicle road traffic collision on the M1 leaving Belfast, just past junction 3 Blacks Road. Lanes 1 and 2 are blocked and only passable via the hard shoulder. 
Road users are advised to seek an alternative route if possible.

M2 closure

The M2 is currently closed south-bound at Antrim Area Hospital due to a crash. Traffic is being diverted off at Junction 7 and road users are being advised to seek an alternative route.

Co Antrim delays

Long delays are being reported on the A57 Templepatrick Road between M2 J5 and the Station Road/The Longshot junction due to a broken-down vehicle close to Dennison JCB in this area.

‘Hazardous’ conditions

The PSNI are warning road users that driving conditions are hazardous on many routes across Northern Ireland this morning due to snow and freezing temperatures. The advice is to reduce your speed and drive to suit the conditions.
A weather warning for snow and ice remains in place until 10am, and longer journey times are expected by road, bus and train. Salting of roads on the scheduled network at risk has been undertaken overnight, and additional secondary salting is underway in many areas this morning.

Emergency services at scene of incident on Westlink on-slip

The ambulance service is attending an incident on the A12 Westlink on-slip at Clifton Street, heading towards York Street. It is currently blocked by a HGV. 

Update:  Clifton Street, North Belfast is closed in both directions between Carlisle Circus and North Queen Street following a road traffic collision this morning. Both the on slip and off slip onto the Westlink at Clifton Street are also closed and motorists should seek alternative routes.

PSNI warn road users over icy driving conditions
Road users are advised to exercise caution due to icy roads throughout Northern Ireland.  Stopping distances increase greatly when weather conditions are poor, so slow down and leave a bigger gap between your vehicle and the vehicle in front.

Drivers warned to exercise caution due to risk of ice and snow

The Department for Infrastructure has warned motorists over driving conditions on Wednesday morning with a yellow weather warning still in place until 10am today. 

The PSNI has also issued a warning to motorists:

“Please take extra care on the roads this morning especially on those which may not have been gritted. Clear your windscreen of ice and snow before you set off and remember to slow down and increase the distance between you and the car ahead.”

Roads salted overnight due to low temperatures

Further salting of roads on the scheduled network at risk has been undertaken overnight , road users are advised to exercise caution when travelling, particularly when driving on untreated roads (2/2)
