Conor McGregor has vowed to appeal after being found liable for rape in a civil case at Dublin’s High Court.
The former UFC champion was found to have assaulted a woman named Nikita Hand at the Beacon Hotel in Dublin in December 2018.
The 36-year-old fighter, who has consistently denied the accusations of ‘raping and battering’ Ms Hand, issued a statement last night expressing ‘regret’ over ‘mistakes’ made in his relationship with Dee Devlin.
The ruling has led to question marks over his sporting future, though McGregor has vowed to work hard in the gym as he targets a UFC comeback.

In a statement posted on X, formerly Twitter, McGregor acknowledged his past errors, stating: “People want to hear from me, I needed time. I know I made mistakes.”
The fighter admitted he “should have never responded to her outreaches” and “should have shut the party down.”
He expressed regret about stepping out on “the woman I love the most in the world.”

However, McGregor maintained that “everything that happened that night was consensual and all the witnesses present swore to that under oath.”
He concluded by announcing: “I have instructed my legal team to appeal the decision.”
McGregor’s future in the UFC remains uncertain, as he hasn’t competed since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in July 2021.

His return to the octagon, currently under consideration by UFC boss Dana White, may be complicated if Homeland Security refuses to grant him a business and tourism visa.
