A popular Bristol coffee shop has finally opened its second site in Bristol after much anticipation. One B Coffee already boasts a venue in Cotham and officially opened on Gloucester Road at the end of last week.
In a post to Instagram, the team at One B shared a series of photos showcasing their new space, alongside the following message: “A huge thank you to all that came by and showed support today. It means the absolute world to us.
“Today, however, is just the start. We cannot wait to grow into our space and develop the plans we have for you wonderful people!
“We are now officially open for tasty business. We’ll be slinging the usual banging brews and bakes for the rest of the weekend, and will look to expand our offerings from next week. For now, much love.”
BristolLive reported back in February that the popular Cotham coffee house, located on Pitville Place, had secured keys to a new home at number 13a Gloucester Road – the former home of the Sheesh Mahal restaurant. The coffee shop had rebranded its original venue to coincide with the upcoming opening, changing its name from 1B Pitville to One B Coffee House.
Its Cotham shop has a massive community following, with many of its regulars even helping out with its menu, rebranding – and even the odd bit of washing up here and there. Operations Director Mikey Farrer told BristolLive at the time that he hoped their second site on Gloucester Road will create a further sense of community.
Mikey and his business partner Matt Read, had viewed the property some seven months before BristolLive’s report, with the pair calling it a “long process”. Mikey said: “It’s been a lot of waiting around and a lot of anticipation. It’s quite a big step for us, definitely going from just a coffee machine on the counter with a couple of guys, to where we are now, to where we’re heading potentially in the next couple of months.”
Mikey even got stuck into some of the painting work at the new site, which was vacant for some four years. The team were also able to design the space completely from scratch.
He went on to say: “We already have crossovers with some of our regulars in Cotham who live in the Gloucester Road area, so that’s really going to help us. They’ve massively helped us so far with spreading the word within the Gloucester Road community, so it’s sort of an extension now and the two sites are not too far from each other, so it’s not a case of just popping up somewhere completely new.”
Taking to the comments section, customers new and old were quick to share their excitement. One said: “Congratulations. Your Cotham cafe had become a neighbourhood fave and that end of Gloucester Road is short of really good coffee!”
Another said: “Congratulations. I can’t wait to pop down for a coffee soon!” While many others commented to say that the new space “looks great” calling it “amazing news”.
