A farm shop and café near Bristol has expanded to a second site in Somerset. Flourish Foodhall & Kitchen took over the former Farleigh Road Farm Shop in Norton St Philip, near Bath, in the summer and has spent four months revamping the site.

The store – Flourish at Farleigh Road – now has a larger kitchen, new deli and butchery counters and a range of local and artisan fine food.

The company’s first site at Glenavon Farm in Saltford was opened by Paul Hargreaves and Paul Castle in 2021, selling local meat, speciality cheeses, vegetarian deli products, freshly baked bread, patisserie and pantry items.

Last year, Flourish was named one of the UK’s best farm shops. Over the last two years, the Saltford premises has expanded to include home and lifestyle brands as well as a pottery painting barn. The site also has a strong commitment to sustainability, using solar-powered energy where possible, harvesting rain water and offering refills, charging points and cycling incentives.

Mr Castle said: “It’s been an incredibly challenging time – opening a second site whilst continuing to trade at both locations – but to see it all come together makes it all worth it. The team have been amazing to continue to serve during this period and I can’t wait for more customers to be able to experience Flourish in this new location.”

The menu at Farleigh Road includes classic breakfast and brunch dishes, including vegetarian and vegan options, as well as wood-fired pizzas. The site also serves roast lunch on Sundays using meat from the butchery and seasonal vegetables. The farm shop at Farleigh Road is a cashless site.
