The reveal of the 2026 Genesis GV70 builds on the success of the crossover that helped moved the company away from its all-sedan lineup and towards a balanced nine-vehicle portfolio — three sedans, three crossovers, and three electric vehicles. Thus far, the GV70 has accounted for over 85,000 sales in North America since its launch in 2020.
What’s new with the 2026 Genesis GV70?
As before, the 2026 GV70 will be offered in both gas and electric variants, both of which get significant changes inside and out. The exterior design of the GV70 and Electrified GV70 (we’ve shortened that to “eGV70,” here) continue to use the “Athletic Elegance” design philosophy, and so the overall look is familiar. However, a closer inspection reveals some detail changes within the dual-weave mesh grille and signature two-line multi-lens headlamps. There’s also a bolder skid plate design, larger air intake grilles, and new 19- and 21-inch wheel options — the display models were wearing large P225/40R21 boots. Around the back, the taillights now mirror the headlights and the two-line look.
Inside, the big news is a 27-inch piece of glass that houses the instrumentation and infotainment OLED screen. It sure makes a very bold statement, stretching from the left door to beyond the centre stack. The instrumentation is clean and uncluttered — in the electric model, it gives a clear distance-to-empty readout.
The infotainment side looks after the navigation, media, weather, and audio controls. The format is intuitive and allows the driver to re-order the tiles to suit. It also gets an expanded voice recognition system that allows the driver to control vehicle functions like the climate and window position. The hard touch-points for the map, audio, media, and setup functions – along with the tune and volume knobs – sit below the screen.
Below those controls are the touch controls for the tri-zone climate functions; and the temperature knobs. The main controller for the infotainment system sits ahead the rotary shifter, with the important hard buttons residing ahead of it. New is the switch for the terrain modes — snow, mud, and sand modes.
What powers the 2026 Genesis GV70?

The 2026 eGV70 continues with its two-motor all-wheel-drive format, but earns a larger 84-kWh battery, an improvement over the current 77.4-kWh battery. While Genesis did not talk range, the display model was showing an 88% charge and a range of 231 miles (396 km). That suggests a full battery should bring a driving range of at least 420 km, which is better than the 2025 model’s 380 km.
The other bit of news for the Electrified GV70 is the redesigned charge point, and the fact it now uses the North American Charging System (NACS), or Tesla-style, socket. It will, however, come with a Combined Charging System (CCS) adapter, so the owner can use both types of DC charger.
The gas-powered GV70 carries over with a choice of a 2.5L turbo-four with 300 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque; or the 3.5L turbo V6 with 375 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque. Both continue with an eight-speed automatic transmission driving all four wheels.
What are the 2026 GV70’s rivals?
As before, the GV70 faces stiff competition from the likes of the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Lexus NX, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Porsche Macan, and Volvo XC60. The eGV70 faces off against the Audi Q6 e-tron, BMW iX3, Lexus RZ, Porsche Macan EV, Tesla Model Y, and Volvo XC40 Recharge.
When will Canada get the 2026 GV70?
Both the 2026 GV70 and eGV70 will arrive at dealers mid-2025.
Should I buy the 2026 Genesis GV70?
What is very obvious is the new GV70 and Electrified GV70 take a number of pages out of the GV80 Coupe’s playbook. If the price differential remains intact, the new 2026 -70s have to be considered something of a steal. They continue to have style, room for the family, and the latest technology.
