Belfast chef Niall McKenna is urging members of the public to host a fundraising breakfast on December 5 to support families facing hardship.

The breakfast appeal is led by Digg Deep For Kids, a charity founded in 2019 by Co Tyrone businesswoman and mother-of-three Caroline O’Neill.

Over five years, the campaign has raised more than £650k for charities and this year will support Women’s Aid, Cash for Kids and Simon Community.

Niamh Taylor, vice-chair at Digg Deep For Kids, said the profile of the event was growing every year, adding to its impact.

Mr McKenna, owner of restaurants Waterman House and James Street and a board member of the charity, said: “This year, we’re expanding our reach to support even more families throughout the year. By gathering friends, family and colleagues, participants can make a meaningful contribution toward essential resources for families and children in need.”

Funds raised will be spent on essential items identified by Digg Deep For Kids’ chosen charities.
