Taylor Lautner is reigniting the Twilight love triangle argument by hopping onto a viral TikToktrend and declaring once and for all: “Bella should have ended up with Jacob.”

The new TikTok mania finds users displaying a controversial opinion on the screen, but when the vantage point flips it reveals the surprising person making the hot take.
Lautner’s video featured a scene from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1 in which which Bella, played by Kristen Stewart, and Robert Pattinson’s character, Edward Cullen, were seen getting married.
Fans of the books and films sorted themselves into Team Edward or Team Jacob as they passionately debated the love triangle that formed between Stewart’s human Bella and werewolf Jacob (Lautner) and vampire Edward.
Bella eventually chose Edward, and became a vampire with Jacob becoming the protector and likely life mate of their half-human, half-vampire daughter Renesmee.
But Lautner hopped on the viral TikTok fad to revive the controversial plot point of the films, which were released between 2008 to 2012.
“Honestly screw Edward,” read his caption on the video, which has been liked more than 23 million times and generated more than 129,000 comments. “Bella should have ended up with Jacob.”
Fans cheered Lautner — who played werewolf Jacob Black in the vampire film series that was based on the hit novels by Stephanie Meyer — for using the craze to revive one of the hottest debates of the late aughts and early 2010s, with one TikTok user commenting, “Everybody go home — he won this trend.”
“This made my year,” another added.
“As a girl, it was Edward. As a woman it’s Jacob,” a third fan wrote.
Lautner previously revealed that his wife, Taylor “Tay” Dome, was on Team Edward before they got together.
In 2022, Dome, responded to a then-viral Instagram obsession that asked users to “Show your childhood crush and then the person you ended up with.” Her clip flashed to a photo of Pattinson’s Edward before flipping to a photo of Lautner.
Dome “came clean” about her prior allegiance, with Lautner telling the Today show that she admitted she had an affinity for Pattinson’s mysterious vampire as he competed with Jacob for Bella’s affections in the franchise.
“I forget how she told me about it, but she definitely at some point came clean because I knew she was a big fan of the ‘Twilight’ franchise,” Lautner told the outlet in 2022. “She told me that she used to go to all the midnight showings and binge the previous movies before seeing the new ones.”
Dome confessed to Lautner that she was on Team Edward when she movie series was being released into theatres.
“At one point, I think she did just tell me that she was on the other side, but (that was) back then,” the actor said, adding, “I was fine with it as long as I converted her now …Yeah, Team Jacob needed a win, so I was happy to bring that one home.”
Replying to a user on TikTok who wrote, “Why do I feel like this was Tay’s idea 😂😂,” the actor said, “Cuz you are very smart (and correct).”
When another fan said they “DIDN’T EXPECT” Lautner to be the one to resuscitate the more than decade-old argument, the Abduction star said, “Me either.”
The Twilight movies made stars out of Stewart, Pattinson and Lautner and earned over $3.3 billion worldwide. But during an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast last December, Lautner said that he and Pattinson weren’t close because the fanbase famously pitted one character against the another.
“I think it was awkward at times for the two of us to be standing together on a balcony and having 10,000 girls booing Rob but then cheering for me but then this half, you know, booing me and cheering (for Pattinson ), but then us having to have some sort of friendship. It was difficult,” he said.
“We never really connected on a deep level just because we’re different humans,” he added.
