Deception, coercion and violence were used to force a woman to work in the sex trade, according to Toronto Police.

A 22-year-old Toronto man faces charges after a woman was allegedly sexually trafficked for five months, said police.

The woman turned over all the money she made to a man whom she met after moving to Ontario, according to the allegations.

Police made an arrest on Nov. 10 in the Victoria Park-Danforth Aves. area.

Leighton Keen Junior Whitfield, aka “2C”, faces a slew of charges, including procuring/exercising control, advertising another person’s sexual services, trafficking in person by recruiting, four counts of assault, and two counts of assault by choking.

Man shot outside his home

A man was wounded in a shooting outside his Oakville home on Saturday morning.

A motorist was seen getting out of his vehicle before confronting and shooting the victim outside a home in the Wavecrest St.-Creek Path Ave. around 10:20 a.m. in the southwestern part of Oakville.

The victim was treated for his injuries at a hospital.

The suspect wore dark clothing and a mask. Police said this was a targeted shooting.

Child hurt in collision; pedestrian killed in Scarborough

A  child was taken to hospital Saturday night after being struck by a vehicle in Toronto’s Entertainment District.

Toronto Police say it happened at 8:17 p.m. in the area of Front and John Sts.

The child was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries as a precautionary measure.

And earlier in the day in Scarborough, a man died after being struck by a vehicle.

Police said a pedestrian was pronounced dead after being hit around 5:30 p.m. in the

Sheppard Ave.-Silver Maple Gate area.

The driver remained at the scene.
