In response, a hefty 86 per cent confessed they employ various strategies to dodge such ‘period mishaps’. This includes not wearing light-coloured clothing and planning routine more toilet breaks to check their pad.

The study shows 37 per cent of women have specific outfits reserved solely for their periods to decrease their anxiety around leaks and pad discomfort. These are usually in darker colours and underwear is usually fully to help secure the pad better.

Almost half said they have issues with their pad bunching, and 53 per cent find it difficult to keep their pad firmly in place. This means they have to adjust or check their pad more often or be mindful of how they walk and sit.
