The Los Angeles Auto Show is gearing up for its 2024 edition, and while there won’t be a lot of new-vehicle reveals this year, the ones on tap look like they’ll be pretty interesting. So far, Hyundai and Kia have released teasers of some of the vehicles they’ll be unveiling during the show’s media day on November 21; while Volkswagen and Fiat will have something to debut, and Ford and Porsche are scheduled to make presentations as well.

Hyundai will take the wraps off the Ioniq 9, an all-electric three-row model that will likely share some of its components with the existing Kia EV9. So far, we’re only getting an outline and some detail close-ups, but that silhouette seems pretty slinky, and Hyundai describes it as “embarking on a new era of spacious EV design.”

The Ioniq 9 draws on the Seven Concept, which the automaker unveiled at the same show in 2021. The same overall shape is there; and while we’re definitely not expecting the Seven’s coach-style doors, where the rear ones are hinged at the back, nor its liftgate that’s almost entirely made of glass, it wouldn’t surprise us to see its drawer-style storage bin and some of its recycled or renewable interior materials.

Hyundai will also show the Initium, a hydrogen fuel-cell (FCEV) concept vehicle it debuted in Korea earlier this year, which could play a role in the next generation of its Nexo FCEV, which it offers in limited markets and quantities in Canada.

Genesis will also take something out of the wings, and while nothing’s been confirmed, speculation is that it could be a new concept, along with updated versions of the GV70 and/or the GV60. It might even be the production version of the GV60 Magma, after the concept was revealed earlier this year at the New York Auto Show — Magma being the luxury brand’s performance division, just as N is for Hyundai.

Kia is remaining tight-lipped about what it’s showing off, other than a silhouette teaser, which could possibly be the refreshed version of its EV6 that’s already been unveiled in South Korea.

Volkswagen will display the all-new, third-generation Tiguan at the show, after unveiling it the evening before at a private media event. Fiat hasn’t revealed what it will show, but speculators say it could be a special edition of the Fiat 500e — or, as some are saying, perhaps even news about the Grande Panda, a subcompact electric hatchback it sells in global markets and might be a good fit for North America.

Ford and Porsche are also slated for presentations, but we’ll have to wait and see what’s hiding under the covers there, as neither automaker has mentioned what it intends to show. We’ll be there, and we’ll fill you in on all the details from the show.
