C’MON BRENDAN

Attention: Brendan Shanahan. It’s still not too late to bring in Bruce Boudreau as head coach. Show some sense of urgency! Gabby will get them on the right track. If you want chemistry between a coach and his players, he’s your man. Take care of business, before it’s too late.

(You’re very quick to judge Craig Berube after a handful of games. He’s won a Stanley Cup. Boudreau has not)

A DAY TO REMEMBER

Re “Worth forgetting” (Joe Warmington, Nov. 12): The Remembrance Day ceremony is to honour veterans. That’s it. That’s all. Not the nonsense that it turned into. Chow and her cadre of left-wing — I’ll use Pierre’s term here — whackos, think we should feel guilty for something some of our ancestors did 180 or so years ago. You know how guilty I feel? Not one freaking iota. Nope. Nada. Not even a twinge of guilt. I wasn’t born yet, so it had absolutely nothing to do with me, and I will never feel guilty about it. So instead of flogging a dead horse, how about moving on and commemorating Remembrance Day the way it ought to be. With dignity, honour and not dragging something that is totally unrelated to the ceremony. Do I feel bad for what happened to Indigenous people many years ago? Sure, I do, but dwelling on it doesn’t fix it. It can’t be fixed. It can be remembered, though. Erasing history often dooms us to repeating it.

(It was completely unnecessary, insulting and over the top. They should be embarrassed by this and park it next year)

WASTEFUL BOARDS

Wow. Great expose by Brian Lilley (“Sanity takes a holiday,” Nov. 12). My jaw dropped after reading the out-of-control spending by various school boards. Why is it so many publicly funded organizations such as government and school boards think they owe the taxpayer no explanation when they fritter away our money. In the private sector, heads would roll. The silence of Marit Stiles and Bonnie Crombie says it all. Little wonder Doug Ford’s approval numbers continue to rise. Common sense equals votes.

(Once again, it is time for a serious discussion on the need for school boards)
