Strictly Come Dancing enthusiasts had been anticipating the appearance of Wynne Evans alongside his dance partner Katya Jones on Wednesday’s edition of It Takes Two.

Moments into the programme, presenter Janette Manrara had to break the news to viewers that these plans had changed.

Despite Fleur East affirming that Wynne would join It Takes Two on Wednesday, a sudden schedule shift occurred.

Janette explained, “If you’ve got any questions like, ‘Why are Chris and Dianne on when yesterday we said it was going to be Wynne and Katya? ‘ It’s live TV, guys. You’ve got to roll with it, alright? Just roll with it.”

Curiosity piqued among the audience as they flocked to Twitter for clarity on the unexpected swap, reports the Mirror.

Tweets began surfacing rapidly, with one user posting, “Obsessed with Janette addressing the change. It was meant to be Wynne today but it’s Chris and Dianne instead. I wonder where Wynne is today?”

Another asked, “What’s wrong with Wynne And Katya?”

Meanwhile, another was inquisitive, pondering, “Wonder why the sudden guest swap for it takes two tonight #strictly”.

Currently, there’s no official word on why Wynne and Katya made a last-minute exit from their It Takes Two slot, with neither party shedding light on the matter via social media.

As of Sunday evening, Wynne faced his first dance-off challenge, going head-to-head with Shayne Ward, leaving the judges visibly split on who deserved to continue in the competition.

Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse chose to save Shayne, while Anton Du Beke was in favour of saving Wynne. The decision ultimately fell to head judge Shirley Ballas who opted to save Wynne and Katya.

Reflecting on his experience, Shayne expressed: “I just want to say, you guys up there [the other contestants] are a dream. Every single day, coming in here and seeing you guys you helped me so much.”

He also showed appreciation for the public’s support: “I want to say thank you to the audience as well for always being amazing for us all. This has been, honestly, one of the best things I’ve ever done.”

Nancy shared her pride in their partnership: “I’m beyond proud of this dance partnership. Shayne from week one until this point, every second you put your feet on the dance floor you improved yourself.

“You’re a deep thinker, you always doubt yourself, you never believed yourself, but I never ever questioned you. When I watch you, I feel proud because I’ve turned someone who has never ever danced in their life into an amazing dancer. You should believe in yourself. I adored this partnership.”

Strictly’s It Takes Two airs weekdays at 6.30pm on BBC Two.
