Andy Farrell has made just one change to the team that lost to New Zealand for Friday’s second Autumn Nations Series game against Argentina, with Robbie Henshaw replacing Bundee Aki at inside centre.
However, the Ireland coach has made four changes to his bench with Leinster pair Sam Prendergast and Thomas Clarkson set for debuts against Argentina, while Ryan Baird and Craig Casey come in for Iain Henderson and Conor Murray.
Much like the second Test of the summer series in South Africa when Farrell shook things up to get a response after a difficult night at the office, it is Aki who drops out of the squad altogether as he makes way for Henshaw and Jamie Osborne retains his position on the bench.
The 14 other members of the starting XV are tasked with responding to the disappointment of their error-strewn performance in the 23-13 defeat to the All Blacks.
Despite being hauled ashore early in the second-half last weekend, Jack Crowley remains the starting No.10 and this week he’s backed up by rising star Prendergast who played all three games for Emerging Ireland on their tour to South Africa last month.
Crowley’s form means he is under pressure going into the game, but Ciarán Frawley missed his chance to grab hold of the jersey last weekend and now Prendergast gets his opportunity.
Clarkson (24) is the beneficiary of injuries to Tadhg Furlong and Tom O’Toole, with Leinster’s third choice tighthead prop having featured in all six of their matches this season.
He was brought into the squad as a training panellist for this window and has not been formally added to the senior ranks, but has a huge opportunity to advance his cause with the Ireland selectors against the Pumas.
His fellow prop Cian Healy is at the other end of the spectrum, with the veteran set to draw level with Brian O’Driscoll as Ireland’s record caps holder when he comes off the bench to play for the 133rd time for his country.
The back-three is retained from Friday’s defeat as Mack Hansen and James Lowe man the wings and Hugo Keenan is at full-back, while Garry Ringrose partners Henshaw in midfield.
Crowley is partnered by Jamison Gibson-Park, while Andrew Porter, Ronan Kelleher and Finlay Bealham make up the front-row.
Behind them, Joe McCarthy and James Ryan will hope to have more of an impact on the game against an in-form Argentina team, while Caelan Doris leads the team from No.8 with Tadhg Beirne and Josh van der Flier on the flanks.
Rob Herring covers hooker, with Healy and Clarkson the reserve props as Peter O’Mahony keeps his place on the bench alongside Baird. Casey, Prendergast and Osborne cover the backline spots.
