The Aurora Detachment of the OPP has received 11 reports of rocks being intentionally thrown at vehicles along Hwy. 48 since Sept. 20, police said.
According to a map provided by the OPP, the incidents have occurred from Major Mackenzie Dr. to Elgin Mills Rd.
In addition, York Regional Police has also identified nine reports of rocks being deliberately thrown at vehicles in their jurisdiction.
In one incident, a rock thrown from a vehicle led to a severe collision at an intersection, leaving two individuals with life-threatening injuries, cops said. One victim remains in hospital while another victim has since been discharged.
According to several reports the OPP received, a sport utility vehicle and its occupants may be involved.
Investigators hope that video from dashcam footage can help them identify the vehicle and its passengers.
