Asda has announced a significant update for users of the Asda Rewards app, setting a deadline of December 31.
The concept behind the Asda Rewards scheme is straightforward: customers scan their app with each shop at Asda to accumulate ‘Asda Pounds’, which can be converted into vouchers for discounts on future purchases. Additionally, throughout the year, shoppers have had the option to contribute to a Christmas Saver Cashpot, allowing them to save some or all of their ‘Asda Pounds’.
Until now, any Asda pounds added to the Christmas Saver Cashpot were locked away and unusable. However, Asda has now notified app users who have been utilising the cashpot that they can now spend their Asda pounds, but this must be done by December 31.
Shoppers can convert the funds in their cashpot into a voucher, which can then be used in-store or online to reduce their total shopping bill, reports the Mirror.
In a message to its customers, the Asda Rewards team stated: “Your Christmas Saver is now available to spend. You can convert your Christmas Saver Cashpot into a Voucher(s) and scan on your Christmas shopping.
“If you’re shopping online, a converted voucher will automatically be taken off so make sure you only convert it when you need it. Your Voucher can be used at the same time as a regular Cashpot Voucher.
“Your Christmas Cashpot Savings will expire at 11.59pm on 31/12/2024. Online orders must be placed before 31/12/2024 and not amended after this date.”
It remains uncertain what will occur if the Asda pounds in the Christmas cashpot are not utilised before 2025. Asda has been contacted for a statement on this matter.
