Coleen Rooney has finally set the record straight, confirming she’s swapping her lavish lifestyle for an adventure in the I’m A Celebrity jungle. But before jetting to Australia, she felt it necessary to quash myths about health issues that could hinder her participation.
The 38-year-old wife of ex-footballer Wayne Rooney had been rumoured to join ITV’s series for 2024. While some stars have already touched down in Australia, including McFly’s Danny Jones and former X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos, Coleen spent one last night at home with her family.
On Monday (November 11), Coleen posted to Instagram from her abode, hinting she’d be organising her children for school and then heading to the airport. “I can confirm, I am going in the jungle,” she said, according to the Mirror.
“…I’m looking forward to doing the trials. There’s been a lot of news saying that I can’t do trials because of certain illnesses and that, but I can confirm I can do every trial. So I am not excluded from any that was just a load of rubbish, and I am, yeah, I’m looking forward to it.”
Before heading off to the jungle, where she’ll join the likes of GK Barry, Oti Mabuse, and Barry Guigan among others, Coleen revealed that she had ‘prepped’ her children’s schedules with the assistance of numerous friends and family members, even leaving them each a letter for when they return from school this Tuesday.
“Don’t get me wrong. I am really anxious about leaving the kids. That’s my biggest thing, and I it for weeks and months that’s been on my mind, but I’ve come to terms with it. I’ve planned, I’ve prepped,” she reportedly disclosed.
“I’ve got an army of people, family, friends, school friends all helping out with the kids, so they are going to be fine, and they are probably going to have a great time when I’m away.” Displaying letters and toy kangaroos on the table, she added: “And then, these are to open when they come in from school a little teddy so that they know that I am constantly thinking of them.”
Speculation surrounding Coleen’s Bushtucker Trial participation arose following reports that she was suffering from reactive arthritis last week. That is a painful condition that triggers swelling in joints all over the body.
At the time, a source allegedly told The Sun that the show’s medics will attempt to alleviate her condition if she experiences a flare-up in Australia. “Coleen’s reactive arthritis being triggered by stress means execs want to wrap her in cotton wool and keep her happy and healthy… The condition is currently under control so at this stage it’s a ‘could be’ ruled out rather than a ‘will be’,” they said.
