A new comic and board game shop has opened in Broadmead. Excelsior, which formerly had two shops on Bond Street in Bristol – one for comics and the other for games – has been serving the people of Bristol for more than 15 years.

The independently-owned-and-run business’s new store opened on Merchant Street, next to Starbucks opposite TK Maxx in Broadmead last weekend. The team have confirmed that it will combine both the games shop and comics shop into one location, and expand the gaming area. There will also be a cafe.

In a post to the Excelsior Games public Facebook group, George Williamson, part of the Excelsior team, wrote: “Hey folks. Here it is. The one you’ve all been waiting for. After more than 15 years of serving our amazing local community, we’re incredibly excited to announce the opening of Excelsior 3.0!

“It’s thanks to all of you and your continued support over the years that we’ve been able to take this next step. So thanks to all of you, and here’s to many more years to come!”

Its devoted community was quick to share their excitement at the move, with one describing it as “the beginning of a new exciting chapter”, while a second said: “Massive well done to you all”, and a third wrote: “This is great news!”
