At least one person is dead and a man in his 30s is critically injured after separate crashes in the north end of the GTA.

Toronto Police said on social media that they were called to a collision just before 4 p.m. in the Allen Rd.-Eglinton Ave. W. area on Monday afternoon after a pedestrian was struck by a wheelchair transit bus.

A male pedestrian in his 30s was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, while the driver remained at the scene of the crash.

Westbound Eglinton was closed for much of the evening, but all roads had reopened at about 10 p.m.

York Regional Police, meanwhile, were investigating a “serious” fatal collision in Markham on Monday night.

Police said at about 8:35 p.m. that Hwy. 7 east of Reesor Rd. was closed in both directions and the investigation was ongoing.
