A man has been arrested after being seen climbing over the barriers at a Remembrance Sunday event in Bristol earlier today (Sunday, November 10). Police arrested the man on suspicion of breaching the peace and causing a public nuisance.
The arrest was made just after 11am and police said the man remains in police custody now. A representative for Avon and Somerset Police said: “A man in his twenties was arrested at the Cenotaph in Bristol just after 11am today, Remembrance Sunday, on suspicion of breaching the peace and causing a public nuisance.
“The arrest came after a man was seen climbing over the barriers during the ceremony. A man remains in police custody.”

It comes as a number of public events took place throughout the city to commemorate fallen soldiers. The city’s annual parade was led by Bristol military units, who marched to the Cenotaph on Colston Avenue to pay their respects to people who lost their lives in time of war.
The procession included military personnel, veterans, and cadets. A two-minute silence was held at 11am at the Cenotaph.
