Drogheda are under the cosh with a crowd of bodies in the six-yard box. Dennison falls to the ground and they eventually win a free-kick.

The Drogs fans are really making themselves heard now, as Derry City try to claw their way back into this final.

A delivery from Boyce bounces awkwardly and Quinn hard to head behind.

And Patrick Hoban is about to be introduced…

That’s 2-0! The Drogs forward steps up to send Brian Maher the wrong way – coolly slotting home his side’s second from the spot.

Penalty to Drogheda!

Boyce catches Kane late with a clumsy tackle just inside the box and things are going from bad to worse for Derry.

Here comes a double change for Derry City as Higgins looks to switch things up…

A half-chance for Derry – McMullan squares a clever ball across the box and Mullen gets ahead of Webster to strike at goal.

The shot lacks power though and Dennison can make the stop.

Aidan Fitzmaurice: Derry City are behind in the cup final but a strong show of support for Palestine from their fans has just been unveiled.

Farrell shoots from distance and it’s deflected behind for a corner. The same player makes his way over to take and it’s over-hit. Ahui then plays the ball back into the box but it evades his Drogs team-mates and runs out.

Just like in the first half, Drogheda are having success through set-pieces – a long throw into the box winning a corner as James-Taylor chases down the loose ball.

From that corner, Derry break in numbers and Duffy ghosts past his man before curling the ball to the back post. Mullen looks to cushion a header back across but Drogheda deal with it.

Dan McDonnell’s half-time thoughts

The luckless Patrick McEleney suffering a concussion – when it seems like he’s suffered every other injury at some stage – is a major problem for Derry.

He had been minded for this game and was at the heart of Derry’s better moments before his injury, including creating a great chance for Sadou Diallo.

Will Patching is a great sub but he’s on his way out of the club and has been dropped for the showpiece; he’s had an indifferent season with his inconsistency reflecting Derry’s broader struggles.

Ruaidhrí Higgins needs him to step up now.

Derry City 0-1 Drogheda United

Drogheda United lead at the break, having started and finished the half really well.

Derry City, who have lost Patrick McEleney to injury, did have a good spell but they can play signficantly better than this showing.

Drogheda go in search of a second and Shane McEleney’s poor clearance puts his side in a bit of bother. Luckily for him, Pierrot fouls Connolly and Derry are let off the hook.

Kane then shows his pace to drive down the line and cross. It’s half-cleared to Markey, and his effort is blocked.
