A greasy spoon in South Bristol serves the best fry-up in the city, according to our readers. Last month, we asked you where you can get the city’s best English breakfast.
Having received more than 70 votes, we then announced the shortlist with the top five that got the most mentions. And, after nearly a thousand votes were cast, Abbots Kitchen on Dundry Road, in Whitchurch, South Bristol, is the clear winner after receiving 432 votes.
The greasy spoon has 50 reviews on Google, with an average rating of 4.6. One reviewer said: “Love this place happy friendly great food. Love our Friday visit.”

“A very nice, well cooked breakfast,” said another.
And another reviewer commented on the generous portions, writing: “Had a great breakfast here it was so big I couldn’t finish it… awesome place fantastic prices too and the staff are really friendly highly recommend this place, all the best girls, keep it up.”
In second place came well-known Top Nosh on Soundwell Road in Kingswood (328 votes), and coming third was Jessie’s cafe on Redcatch Road (100 votes). It was followed by two more South Bristol cafes; the Totterdown Canteen on Wells Road (55 votes) and George’s Cafe on East Street (36 votes).
Earlier this month, we revealed that a pub in Bristol city centre serves the city’s best Sunday roast, according to our readers. After more than 700 votes being cast, The Famous Royal Navy Volunteer on King Street was the clear winner after receiving 310 votes.
