It’s a bit rich for people who support our blackface-wearing prime minister to be outraged at Wayne Gretzky appearing at Donald Trump’s victory party. As the saying goes though, if progressives didn’t have double standards, they wouldn’t have standards at all.

Gretzky is facing outrage over his appearance at Mar-A-Lago with Trump on Tuesday night.

I’ve seen people posting that they will boycott the wines bearing Gretzky’s name, that they have cancelled their memberships, that this is more evidence of the dangers of hockey’s toxic effect on Canada, that Gretzky is clearly no longer a Canadian icon.

Give me a break.

Gretzky went to a victory party for a man that he supports, which is his right, and that his family has known for years. Janet Gretzky, Wayne’s wife, has long been a supporter of Trump, with her mother Jean reportedly a fanatical supporter of The Donald.

Dustin Johnson, the professional golfer and husband of Gretzky’s daughter Paulina, has known Trump for years and has spoken about golfing with the president-elect often.

Given all that, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that Gretzky was at the party. But the outrage is real among Canadian progressives and our elites who can’t understand how anyone could go near a man like Trump.

Doesn’t Gretzky know how Trump treats women?

Well, a good portion of women in America also voted for Trump, and no, they weren’t forced to by their husbands. A good question for these hypocrites might be how they aren’t as outraged at Justin Trudeau given how he treats women.

“I do not feel that I acted inappropriately in any way. But I respect the fact that someone else might have experienced that differently,” Trudeau said when asked about groping allegations.

That’s right, our PM groped a woman years ago and when confronted about it sounded soft and sincere and just said the woman experienced it differently. Absolutely she did, because it is different being the victim than the perpetrator.

Our fake feminist PM also has a history of firing and lashing out at woman who oppose him – Jody Wilson-Raybould, Jane Philpott and Celina Caesar-Chavannes are just a few examples. Trudeau likes to claim that he is a feminist leading a feminist government while his track record shows otherwise.

But … doesn’t Gretzky know that Trump is a racist?

That’s a frequent comment and claim that isn’t backed up by Trump’s actions. Neither does it appear true to America’s voters as Trump made historic gains among Latino voters, Native Americans, and Black voters.

Of course, the people screaming this look past Trudeau’s blackface episodes which came to light during the 2019 election.

“I am wary of being definitive about this,” Trudeau said when asked to state how many times he had worn blackface.

Two photos had appeared the day before, he had apologized, and then when a third photo appeared, he had to admit there may have been more incidents. That’s the kind of thing that normally kills a political career and if Trudeau wasn’t a Liberal it may have.

The Canadians who demand a purity test on issues of their choosing just kept backing Trudeau though.

If Gretzky was photographed next to Trudeau while he was wearing blackface and groping a woman, the voters expressing outrage now wouldn’t have an issue with it. There wouldn’t be the steady stream of pronouncements from unhinged media talking heads like Andrew Coyne at the Globe & Mail denouncing all of this.

Unhinged outrage and media hypocrisy that we saw for the four years that Trump was president appears to be back.

It will be a very telling second term for Trump and the hypocrites who loathe him.
