A young person has been taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital for Sick Children after a road traffic collision in north Belfast.

It is understood the person was a pupil at a nearby school.

A spokesperson for the NI Ambulance Service (NIAS) said it received a 999 call at 7.58am on Friday following reports of an incident in the Ballysillan Road area.

“NIAS despatched one emergency ambulance and one advanced paramedic to the incident,” said the NIAS.

“Following initial assessment and treatment at scene, one patient was taken to Royal Victoria Hospital for Sick Children by ambulance.”

The PSNI has also been contacted for a response.
