City workers in Brampton went on strike early Thursday disrupting services including transit.
Members of CUPE Local 831 have been in negotiations with the city for a new contract and were in a legal strike position as of 12:01 a.m. Thursday.
In a statement, the city said, “Scheduled transit services are experiencing significant disruptions. Residents are advised to make alternative travel arrangements.
“The City is prioritizing its essential and emergency services to support residents, businesses and the community,” officials added.

CUPE Local 831 represents 1,200 full-time and temporary workers in departments including Corporate Services, Community Services, Transit SSD, Public Works and Engineering, Planning, Building and Economic Development, and Legislative Services.
