A new Dim Sum restaurant, cafe and wine bar is ‘coming soon’ to the St Werburghs area of Bristol. From the team behind Ah-Ma’s Dumplings, CLOUDS took to its brand new Instagram page last month to say that it would be sharing its grand opening date with fans and locals ‘soon’.

Further posts since have included a range of ‘behind the scenes’ shots of the process of getting the new restaurant/cafe ready, including the installation of a state-of-the-art coffee machine. Then, on November 3, the team finally shared a post with a selection of images of the brand new venue.

Alongside the photos, they wrote: “CLOUDS is here! Hello St Werburghs, it’s us – excited to officially announce our new venture.

“Over the last year we’ve been busy behind the scenes, working on a brand new project called ‘Clouds’ – a Dim Sum Restaurant, Cafe & Wine Bar opening at the corner of Mina Rd and York St in Bristol, UK. We’ll be offering an evening restaurant service with indie/sustainable wine pairings; vegan, vegetarian & gluten free options; weekend Yum Cha (Chinese breakfast/brunch); a small but considered cocktail menu; specialty coffee, green teas & oolong; an affordable lunchtime offering & takeaway collection.

“We’re the team behind @ah_mas_dumplings, founded in 2014 by chef Anita Cheung and will continue running our market stalls, events and catering service alongside the restaurant space. Over the next few weeks we’ll be starting to open our doors with a few evening-only events for friends, family and the local community as a soft launch to help us find our feet. “Keep an eye on our @cloudsbristol page and sign up to the newsletter on our website for all the updates. Huge thanks to everyone for the support so far – launch date will be revealed soon…” According to the website, it is hoped CLOUDS will open sometime this month.

The Ah-Ma’s team can usually be found at Bristol markets throughout the year, including Finzels Reach Market and the Tobacco Factory Market. Founded by Anita Cheung, Ah-Mas has been inspired by her Cantonese upbringing and multicultural British home, and focuses on ‘typical home-cooked Cantonese cuisine‘ with ‘nourishing ingredients’.

Her dishes are handmade from scratch using locally-sourced, minimum free range or organic produce from the South West, ethical producers and companies – and packaging used is made from renewable sources, and is compostable, biodegradable, or easily recyclable.

Taking to the comments section, fans were quick to share their excitement at the news, with one writing: “Congratulations! It finally happened! I cannot wait to come dine here – lots of love and well done for the perseverance.”

A second commented: “Amazing news. Well done everyone. We are sure it will be amazing.” While a third said: “Welcome to the neighbourhood.”

In a response to one comment on November 6, the team confirmed they were aiming for an opening date of November 21, but added: “Watch this space”.
